Akira Fukuda

Riza Sulaiman

Akira Fukuda is a Distinguished Professor at Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University. He became a professor in Kyushu University from 2001. He was a Professor at Graduate School of Information Science, Nara Institute of Science and Technology from 1994 to 2001. He is the Director of System LSI Research Center and the Director of R&D Center for Smart Mobility, both at Kyushu University. He received his B.E. in 1977, his M.E. in 1979, and his Ph.D. in 1985, All in Kyushu University. Some of his awards are Best Research Award of IPSJ in 1990, Best Author Award of IPSJ in 1994, and Best Research Award in Special Interest Group on Mobile Computing of IPSJ in 1998 and 2002. His research interests are Embedded Systems/Software, System Software, Mobile Computing, Operating Systems, Compilers, Parallel and Distributed Systems, and Computer Architecture Riza Sulaiman is a Professor and Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Visual Informatics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM. He joined UKM since 1997 as Tutor and in 1998 became a lecturer. He had hold many administrative post such as the Head of Department, Head of Research Group and Chairman of Undergraduate Centre in the faculty. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, a MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Technology from the University of Portsmouth and B.Eng. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom. His research area is in CADCAM, Graphics, Visualization and Robotic Vision. He is a reviewer of more than 20 international journals and conference proceedings. He has published five books in Computer–aided Design. He is also a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), United Kingdom and the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Lukito Edi Nugroho

Dr. Lukito Edi Nugroho is an associate professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. In the management position, he is now the Vice Dean for Research, Community Services, and Cooperation, Faculty of Engineering UGM. He joined as an academic staff after completing his undergraduate degree at UGM. He obtained his M.Sc. degree from James Cook University in 1995 and his Ph.D. from Monash University in 2002, both in Australia. His research interests include software engineering, distributed and mobile computing, and application of ICT in education. He is also serving as a member of National Research Council (2015-2018 period). In his professional services, Dr. Nugroho is often invited to give consultancy in the adoption of ICT in education (particularly in universities) and government. He has been serving as a technical expert in many ICT development activities carried out by universities and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Still in the ICT area, Dr. Nugroho is now serving UN-APCICT, a United Nation’s organization arm in the Asia Pacific region working on ICT. His contributions include translation of ICT training modules into Indonesian languages. Dr. Nugroho has been involved in the AUN/SEED-Net project since its beginning in 2003. He has been actively promoting collaborations in the area of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology through regional conferences and promotional visits to universities in ASEAN countries. In Batch III of SEED-Net, he is appointed as the U-I Collaboration contact person for UGM. In university – industry collaboration area, Dr. Nugroho led a preparation team for Hi-Link Project at Gadjah Mada University. Hi-Link was an international cooperation project, funded by the DGHE and JICAand tried to improve university’s institutional capacity in developing and strengthening research-based collaboration with industries. Dr. Nugroho’s responsibility was to design, prepare, and set up the project together with the JICA and DGHE teams.
