Manado is the capital city of the North Sulawesi province of Indonesia. Manado is among Indonesia’s most popular tourist destinations. Famous attractions near the city include Bunaken Marine National Park, lake Tondano and the Tomohon highlands. The city is also renown for its unique cuisine and old churches built during the colonial era. Manado has a climate that is tropical all year; however the wet session is from October to March. In March, the average temperature hovers around 27o – 33o C.
TRAVEL TO MANADO
There are two stages to organizing flight to Manado: The first is to book international flight to and from either Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), or Singapore. The second stage is to book connecting flight from one of the above airports through to Manado.
Manado’s Sam Ratulangi Airport (IATA: MDC) fields an international flights to Singapore (Silk Air). There are also several daily flights to Jakarta (Garuda Indonesia, Merpati, Lion Air, etc.), as well as frequent flights to Denpasar (Bali). The airport is located 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) northeast of Manado. A taxi from the airport to central Manado takes about 30 minutes and costs IDR 110,000 (U$ 8). If possible, pick a Blue Bird (Group) taxi. They are metered taxies (no need to bargain) and reliable. On the way back from your hotel to the airport, order a Blue Bird taxi.

Recommended transport mode to get to the symposium venue is by taxi or ridesharing. Several taxi companies operate in Manado such as Trust Taxi, Celebrity Taxi and Blue Bird. Ridesharing services (online taxi) operate for traveling in Manado are
