The initiative sought to address the underutilization of rice husk waste, which is abundant in the region due to its significant rice farming activities. By converting agricultural waste into eco-friendly biobriquettes, the program provided an alternative energy source while enhancing the economic value of waste for local farmers. The implementation involved training, technology transfer, and hands-on mentoring, resulting in the production of biobriquettes with a diameter of 2 cm, height of 5 cm, and a burning duration of 2--3 hours per unit. The program achieved a 95% participation rate, with active involvement from farmers, youth groups, and local MSMEs. Quantitative analysis through pre-test and post-test revealed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills. The average scores for understanding the concept of biobriquettes increased from 45% to 85%, carbonization techniques from 35% to 80%, understanding of economic benefits from 50% to 90%, and practical skills from 30% to 75%. Economic benefits included a 40% reduction in fuel costs for businesses and 30% savings for households. This activity involved cross-disciplinary collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Disability Center of Hasanuddin University, and the South Sulawesi Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Blind Association. The main objective of this activity was to increase the capacity of participants to carry out independent activities in public spaces. The research assumption states that hands-on training will increase participants' independence and self-confidence. The theoretical basis of the activity refers to a community empowerment approach and inclusive education that emphasizes the active participation of vulnerable groups. The implementation method included initial observation, pre-test, technical training (use of a white cane, hand protection techniques, </em><em>as well as</em><em> social</em><em>ization and </em><em>communication simulations), and a post-test. Participants were divided into small groups to facilitate mentoring. The results showed significant improvements in mobility and communication skills, as well as psychosocial impacts such as increased self-confidence. This activity resulted in an OMSC training model that can be replicated in other inclusive educational institutions. This issue leads to overstocking or stock shortages, which reduce operational efficiency. This community service program was implemented to provide solutions through intensive assistance in structured and applicable inventory management training. The solutions offered include the implementation of a digital stock recording system using the inventory module in the Odoo application, the development of a more systematic manual format based on the concepts of safety stock, Reorder Point (ROP), and Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), as well as regular stock monitoring training. The results of the program show an improvement in the partner’s understanding and skills in managing inventory, as evidenced by the ability to create more organized stock records, calculate raw material needs, and determine reorder points accurately. The implemented recording system has proven effective in reducing the risk of stockouts and overstocking, thereby increasing operational efficiency. In addition, the partner has become more confident in managing their business sustainably. In fulfillment of the university’s third pillar of higher education—community service—the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Hasanuddin University conducted a collaborative community engagement activity under the Faculty of Engineering’s Community Service Learning Program (LBE). The initiative focused on enhancing the geospatial data management capacity of local government officials. The activity was held on September 15, 2025, at the PUTR Office of Bulukumba Regency and involved technical staff and geospatial data officers. The methodology combined theoretical instruction with hands-on simulation, including field data collection using mobile devices and point mapping, followed by spatial data processing using freely accessible Geographic Information System (GIS) software. The results indicate that participants demonstrated high engagement and successfully acquired foundational competencies in geospatial data management. Furthermore, the activity fostered strategic academic–government collaboration, opening avenues for joint research, the development of a regional geospatial information system (SIGD), and ongoing technical mentoring. The aim of this community service program is to transform the fisheries sub-sector—specifically the INS Fisheries MSMEs in Takalar—from a conventional system into a website-based digital system. Digitalization is utilized to address issues such as lack of clarity, limited market coverage, operational inefficiency, competitiveness, and customer trust.</em></p> <p><em>As a result, the digitalization of the fisheries sector through website integration is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency, revenue generation, and consumer confidence. Information technology and digitalization are crucial for the continued development of fisheries-based MSMEs, which in turn can improve the coastal economy [2]. This transformation has a profound impact on digital branding, marketing strategies, and information transparency. Accordingly, management training, technology mentoring, inventory system integration, and online marketing have been carried out.</em></p> <p><em>Several case studies have shown improvements in market reach, transaction speed, and the professional image of INS MSMEs. The website aids in product distribution and SEO optimization, thereby enhancing credibility. Additionally, the INS MSME is the central subject in outreach efforts involving local fishermen and communities. The observation method includes analysis of sales activities before and after the website launch, as well as monitoring of website usage and consumer engagement online.</em></p> <p><em>The analytical method comprises a qualitative analysis of the digitalization program’s impact on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including changes in market reach, operational efficiency, and customer perception, along with empirical comparisons through case study analysis. The primary output of this program is a dedicated MSME website for promotion and transactions, designed around a digital inventory management system, SEO-based marketing, and strengthened customer engagement through social media. This aligns with community development theories, particularly the empowerment of coastal communities through technological and interdisciplinary (technical and economic) approaches to MSME growth.</em></p> <p><em>In the results and discussion section, it is described that the main outcome is a functional, SEO-friendly website, which has significantly expanded its national market reach and improved transactional efficiency by reducing manual errors. Athirah 2 Islamic Elementary School, which is one of the partners in this community service, provides facilities for the Introduction to the Ocean World and Coastal Engineering activity. This community service activity aims to introduce the basic concepts of the ocean world and coastal engineering through a fun and interactive approach that is adapted to the age of elementary school students. This activity will be carried out in 6 sessions, namely Session 1: Opening, Introduction, and Pre-test; Session 2: Introduction to the Sea and Marine Engineering; Session 3: Simple Experiments; Session 4: Educational Games; Session 5: Reflection and Post-test; and Session 6: Closing and Documentation. After this activity is carried out, an initial awareness is formed in students about the importance of protecting the sea as part of a shared responsibility. Conventional methods based on visual observation and empirical experience result in low accuracy in assessing cultivation site suitability, leading to fluctuating yields and economic losses. This Community Service Program aims to enhance seaweed farming productivity through the implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system powered by solar energy, while also improving fishermen’s knowledge and skills in technology utilization. The implementation method consisted of socialization, training, two phases of technology trials, and monitoring and evaluation. The results indicated a significant increase in fishermen’s knowledge, such as water quality parameter understanding improving from 42% to 78%, readiness to adopt technology from 40% to 76%, and basic IoT comprehension from 35% to 75%. Technical capabilities also improved, with the ability to read sensor data rising from 38% to 78%, device installation understanding from 32% to 70%, and maintenance skills from 30% to 68%. The technology trials successfully provided more accurate water quality data and enabled fishermen to monitor cultivation sites in real-time. Currently, the laying hen population reaches 4,940,118 with a daily production of around 100,000 egg racks. This large production volume also produces very high volumes of chicken feces waste. Currently, this waste simply accumulates around the coop without being processed, causing air pollution, disturbing the environment, and causing health problems. The partner in this community service is the EMAS Cooperative, which has many members from various business sectors. However, several livestock businesses within the EMAS Cooperative do not yet have a dynamic business model process that can effectively manage resources, respond to market changes, and ensure business sustainability. Therefore, an innovation is presented in the form of technology for processing chicken feces into solid organic fertilizer in tablet form with market value, accompanied by the development of a dynamic business model to support sustainable business management. This community service activity is carried out in four main stages: field observation, problem analysis and solution determination, tool design and manufacture, and implementation and mentoring. This community service initiative was conducted under the Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) Community Service Program in collaboration with partner institution CV. Reza. The program focused on the redesign of a mobile shredding machine integrated with a fermentation tank, developed to be more efficient, user-friendly, and aligned with the practical needs of local livestock farmers. The implementation process involved several stages, including problem identification, machine redesign, prototype development, user training, and mentoring for farmers. The results demonstrated that the redesigned machine effectively accelerated the shredding process, produced uniformly chopped green fodder, and facilitated efficient silage production. To address this issue, the community service team partnered with the Klasis GMIT East Kupang City to develop the Teman Baomong Digital Platform as a web-based mental health consultation service for approximately 12,000 youth under the Klasis. This program aims to improve mental health literacy and access to psychological support that is safe, affordable, and stigma-free through online consultations with psychologists, religious leaders, and peer counselors, as well as the provision of educational content. The implementation methods included: (1) development of the Teman Baomong platform, (2) training of 35 peer counselors, (3) mental health education for 121 adolescents, and (4) provision of individual online consultation services. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests and a User Acceptance Test (UAT) to assess user acceptance of the platform. The results showed a significant increase in adolescent mental health literacy by 39.8% and enhanced involvement of peer counselors in community assistance. The UAT results from 50 respondents indicated an average score of 94%, demonstrating that the platform is perceived as highly effective and feasible for use. The highest-rated aspect was ease of use (98%), while the lowest was access speed (83.6%) due to internet network limitations in several congregation areas. This community service program aimed to improve students’ knowledge and skills in managing health at Pondok Pesantren Alam Indonesia, Barru Regency, through a Training of Trainer (ToT) approach. The program, conducted by the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University, involved 52 students from junior and vocational levels. Activities included lectures, group discussions, practical sessions, and knowledge tests with 40 questions. Results showed that most students achieved good (34.62%) and fair (30.77%) knowledge levels and improved healthy habits such as eating fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water, and exercising regularly. However, limited accessibility, basic infrastructure and tourism institutions mean that its potential has not been optimized. This community service activity was carried out in Lakkang Village, Tallo District, Makassar City, involving 30 participants consisting of the community, village officials, and representatives of tourism awareness groups. This activity aimed to develop guidelines for the development of the Lakkang Delta area as a community based ecotourism destination using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. This method includes participatory mapping, transect walks, in-depth interviews, and door-to-door socialization to explore local potential and actual problems in the field. The activity was evaluated through pre-test and post-test to measure the community's level of understanding of the concepts of ecotourism and spatial-based planning. The results showed a significant increase in the average understanding score from 60 to 85 (an increase of 41.6%). The main identified potentials were bamboo forests, fishponds, and Japanese bunker historical sites, as well as the social value of mutual cooperation. The main issues included transportation access, basic infrastructure, and tourism management institutions. This activity had a direct impact on increasing the community's capacity to manage tourism potential, the creation of a participatory potential map, and recommendations for development strategies aligned with the Makassar City Spatial Plan (RT/RW) 2024–2043. This activity was carried out in collaboration with SD Negeri 48 Parepare, with the goal of promoting healthy digital literacy among elementary school students through an interactive socialization program titled “Healthy Gadgets: Wise Use of Technology.” The theoretical foundation of this activity is based on the concepts of community education, child character development, and digital literacy, emphasizing the role of socialization in shaping positive behavior. The proposed hypothesis states that an interactive approach can effectively improve students’ understanding of healthy and responsible gadget use. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, and quizzes involving 30 fifth-grade students, selected based on their high level of gadget usage, while understanding was evaluated through simple pre-test and post-test assessments. The measured outcomes included students’ comprehension of gadget benefits, potential negative impacts, and healthy usage strategies. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, with the average pre-test score of 58% increasing to 84% after the interactive session. Positive impacts were also observed in the students’ enthusiasm during discussions and their willingness to adopt healthier gadget habits. These findings confirm that the interactive method is effective in building awareness and transforming students’ mindsets regarding healthy digital literacy. The program was initiated to address low efficiency and unstable temperature and humidity conditions in oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) cultivation houses, which were previously managed manually. The main objective was to improve the knowledge and technical skills of mushroom farmers in understanding and applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology for automatic environmental monitoring and control. The activity was grounded in the concept of IoT-based smart farming, integrating temperature and humidity sensors, a microcontroller, and the Blynk application for real-time environmental supervision. The implementation stages included device design, system socialization and demonstration, and evaluation through pre- and post-activity questionnaires. A total of 15 KWT participants and 4 vocational students were actively involved in the training sessions. The results showed a significant enhancement in participants’ understanding, with the average knowledge score increasing from 2.0 (low awareness) to 4.0 (good understanding), indicating a 100% improvement after training. The wood dust waste generated by local woodcrafters has not been utilized optimally and is often burned directly, causing air pollution. Through a participatory approach, this program involved technical training, technology transfer, and hands-on mentoring in biobriquette production. Quantitative analysis through pre-test and post-test of 20 participants showed a significant increase in understanding, with the "highly understood" category surging from 4.2% to 55.0%. Implementation results showed that the community successfully produced functional biobriquettes with specifications of 2 cm diameter, 3 cm height, and a burning duration of 2-3 hours per unit. Community participation reached 93%, with product utilization by satay vendors and households reporting up to 40% savings in fuel costs. This program not only successfully enhanced the economic value of waste but also established independent production groups committed to continuing the biobriquette business sustainably. The activity evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test methods involving 25 students from the Electrical Engineering Department to measure comprehension improvement. The activity “Empowering the Banjar Indra Giri Community through the Use of Used Bottles as a Medium for Creative Economic Education in Sangiang Hamlet” was carried out to provide a solution to this problem while also improving the community's financial literacy. The main objectives of this activity were to foster awareness and skills in managing plastic waste into products of economic value and to instill the habit of saving from an early age through a creative approach. The methods used included participatory observation, direct demonstrations, and evaluation with pre-test and post-test instruments to measure changes in participants' knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The quantitative results show a significant increase in all aspects assessed. The average pre-test score of 59 indicates a relatively low level of initial understanding, while the average post-test score increased to 91, indicating an increase of 54%. In detail, the aspect of understanding the importance of saving increased from 56 to 88, knowledge of plastic waste management from 60 to 90, creativity in making recycled products from 58 to 92, and environmental awareness from 62 to 94. These results show that the training program not only improved participants' cognitive abilities, but also encouraged positive behavioral changes in environmental management and financial habits. Qualitatively, the activity of making piggy banks from used bottles became a fun and meaningful educational tool for children. They learned to save money, hone their creativity, and understand the economic and ecological value of recycling. This program has succeeded in fostering a younger generation that is more independent, thrifty, and environmentally conscious. Small and medium industries serve as the driving force of the national economy, contributing significantly to employment and economic growth. However, many SME actors face challenges in implementing occupational safety and health standards due to limited resources and knowledge. This program aims to enhance the awareness and compliance of SME actors regarding occupational health and safety aspects. Through training, socialization, and the implementation of OHS standards, it is expected that the risks of accidents and occupational diseases can be minimized, productivity can be improved, and a safe and healthy work environment can be established. The methods used include providing education and assistance in hazard identification. The pre-test results showed participants’ understanding levels ranged from 8% to 21%, while the post-test results after the socialization showed a significant improvement, reaching 66% to 85%. Beba Hamlet, Tamasaju Village, Galesong Utara District, Takalar Regency has settlements in coastal areas. Natural disasters have become an important issue in considering the resilience of the community's housing construction system that is able to respond to natural conditions in coastal environments. The goal is to find a concept for addressing the problems of communities living in coastal areas so that their homes can withstand natural disasters. Before implementation, the public response to the concept was as follows: 47.4% (in the enough category) of the community did not understand the concept; 57.4% felt the concept did not meet the community's needs; 63.7% thought the concept was not useful; 52.1% believed the concept did not provide a level of safety against natural disasters.
