Sosialisasi Bahaya, Evakuasi, dan Cara Penggunaan Peralatan Keselamatan di Atas Kapal Penyeberangan Trayek Makassar-Barrang Lompo

Abstrak

1. Arista had an accident on June 13, 2018, and resulted in 13 deaths. The accident was caused by an overload. The number of fatalities is due to a lack of understanding of passengers regarding safety procedures on board when an accident occurs. To minimize casualties if an accident occurs, it is necessary to disseminate information regarding the dangers, evacuation methods, and how to use safety equipment on board.

socialization about the dangers, evacuation methods, and how to use safety equipment for passengers on the Makassar-Barrang Lompo route was carried out on September 28-30 September 2021. Prior to the socialization, a survey was conducted to determine the level of understanding of passengers on hazards, evacuation methods, and how to use the equipment onboard through filling out questionnaires. Furthermore, socialization is carried out by means of demonstrations and explanations related to hazards, evacuation methods, and how to use the equipment on board. To find out the level of understanding of passengers, a questionnaire was filled out after the socialization.

Based on the results of the socialization carried out, it was found that before the socialization was carried out there were 17.97% of respondents understood the dangers, evacuation methods, and how to use the equipment on board. Meanwhile, after the socialization was carried out, it was found that 82.95% of respondents had understood the dangers, how to evacuate, and how to use equipment onboard, or an increase of 64.98%.
