1. Fulfilling the needs of engineering doctoral scholars with dignity in the fields of architecture and planning, through the organization of Student Centered Learning and Labo Based Education;
2. Producing scientific innovations that are maritime with equatorial belt based on the research of the academicians and their partners;
3. PDIA also functions as an incubator in efforts to resolve various human and environmental problems in the realm of science and technology and the built environment.

1. Producing doctorates who:
   Competent as an innovator of architecture and IPTekSB built environment planning;
   Caring and responsive through the domain of architectural design and environmental planning fostered against human and environmental problems;
   Produce competent graduates in the architecture and planning of the built environment, which will be able to have a career as researchers, lecturers, architects, planners and policy makers in ministries and institutions of the Central Government as well as in the Regional Government environment based on competence in the field of research;
   Based on the cumulative capacity of competent lecturers to guide doctoral students, 7 doctoral professors, and 13 doctoral candidates for professors in the Department of Architecture Unhas, the doctorate produced by PDIA starting in the fourth year of the implementation of this program a minimum of 10 people each year.
2. Produce research that is beneficial for:
   The growth of IPTtekSB in the field of architecture and planning in general, and especially those with maritime equatorial insight, especially the Indonesian Maritime Continent (BMI);
   Development of models, norms, standards, guidelines and criteria for problem solving as well as the development of architecture and the built environment through planning and design incubators;
   Prepare a plan for application of research results for community service programs together with Master and S1 study programs, Research and Community Service Institutions, and other relevant institutions;
   The number of studies published in highly reputable journals is at least 15 papers each year.
