ABET Accreditation Site Visit for the Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering Programs at the Faculty of Engineering, UH

Two degree programs at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering—the Civil Engineering program and the Electrical Engineering program—welcomed Prof. Abu Masud, chair of the ABET Coordination Team; Prof. Carlos Carbrera, evaluator for the Electrical Engineering program; Prof. Utpal Dutta, evaluator for the Civil Engineering program; and Prof. Muhammad Romli from the Indonesian Board of Engineering Education (IABEE), who served as an observer for the ABET accreditation visit. The event took place in Meeting Room B of the COT Building, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, Gowa Regency

In his opening remarks, the Rector of Unhas explained that Hasanuddin University, particularly the Faculty of Engineering, was delighted by the arrival of the ABET team. This was a long-awaited visit, as it marked the first time that programs at Unhas were being evaluated for ABET accreditation. ABET’s quality assessment aligns with Unhas’s aspiration to be recognized as a world-class university.

Over the course of three days, the ABET team of evaluators and observers completed the accreditation visit for the Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering programs. With the conclusion of the entire accreditation visit process for these programs, the leadership of Hasanuddin University, along with the ABET team of evaluators and observers, held an exit meeting attended by the Rector of Unhas, Vice Rectors, Directors and Heads of Institutions, Deans across Unhas, and the Unhas Task Force for ABET Accreditation.

The Rector of Unhas also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the entire academic community for their hard work and participation in the site visit process, particularly to the Faculty of Engineering and specifically the Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering programs.

“We will continue to foster a culture that prioritizes innovation and creativity, which I hope will become a new culture at Unhas. This requires both individual and collective awareness and responsibility,” said Prof. Dwia.

The conclusion of the Exit Meeting marked the completion of the entire series of ABET Accreditation Site Visit activities on October 25, 2019.
