The Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Signed a Cooperation Agreement with PT. Dok and Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero)

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, in the Meeting Room on the 3rd floor of the JK CoT Building in Gowa, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between PT Dok and Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) and the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University regarding education, human resources training, and scientific research and development to support the improvement of human resources quality. Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, ST, MT, as the Associate Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation, represented the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Eng., Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST, MT, IPM, at the signing ceremony for this collaboration. Meanwhile, PT Dok and Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) was represented by Ari Rohmat Basuki, Director of Operations and Engineering.

At the conclusion of the series of activities—attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering, department heads, and company representatives—a discussion ensued regarding the implementation of the MoA. This MoA applies to all study programs within the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University. One of the highlights of the discussion concerned the implementation of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s policy—specifically the MBKM Internship Program—which lasts approximately 6 months and is equivalent to completing 20 credit hours or one semester. PT DKB strongly supports this initiative, which will provide students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained on campus and gain more comprehensive hands-on experience, particularly in shipyards. It is hoped that through this MBKM Internship Program, students will gain a better understanding of the industry. The university, specifically the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, hopes for the smooth implementation of this program so that the company can accommodate a schedule that aligns with the current semester or academic calendar. Meanwhile, PT DOK hopes to receive a detailed description of the learning outcomes for this program to serve as a guideline for the company. For this MBKM internship program, mentors will be assigned from both the university and the company. In addition to the MBKM internship, discussions were held regarding PT DOK’s willingness to serve as practitioner-lecturers and guest speakers as part of the university’s three pillars of higher education.

Also present alongside the Associate Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering were Prof. Ir. Mansyur Hasbullah, M.Eng., Dr. Ir. Chairul Paotonan, ST., MT. (Chair of the Department of Marine Engineering), Hamzah, ST., MT. (Manager of Student Affairs, Faculty of Engineering), M. Rusdy Alwi, ST., MT. (Secretary of the Department of Naval Architecture) and several faculty members from the Department of Naval Architecture. Meanwhile, accompanying the Director of Operations and Engineering at PT Dok and Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) were Syamsul Sidik (Senior Manager of Operations, Ship Repair, and Maintenance) and Endi Endrocahyo (Senior Manager of Marketing).
