Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Holds Emergency Training for Staff and Lab Technicians

Gowa, November 13, 2025—The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University held an Emergency Response Training for staff and lab technicians as part of an effort to improve preparedness and the ability to handle emergency situations in the workplace.

The event took place at the Exhibition Hall and Workshop Building of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, and was attended by dozens of participants from various departments and laboratory units. The training featured a team of professional instructors who presented material on wound care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), victim evacuation, and the use of portable fire extinguishers (APAR).

In his opening remarks, the Associate Dean for Planning at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Rusman, S.T., M.T., stated that this training is part of the faculty’s commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and risk-responsive work environment.

“Staff and lab technicians are on the front lines of laboratory activities and campus operations. Basic skills in handling emergencies are essential to minimize potential risks,” he said.

Through this activity, participants not only received theoretical material but also took part in hands-on simulations on how to handle workplace accidents, fires, and medical emergencies in the laboratory.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and the presentation of certificates to all participants. The Faculty of Engineering hopes that training like this can be conducted regularly and continuously to foster a safety culture within the academic community.
