Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Retains Its Top Ranking in the 2025 Green Metric Awards
Makassar, September 14, 2025 – The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University has once again solidified its position as the top faculty in green campus management by winning first place in the 2025 Hasanuddin University Green Metric Award. This achievement was announced at the closing ceremony of Hasanuddin University’s 69th Anniversary, held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Unhas Tamalanrea Campus.
Green Metric is a sustainability assessment tool that covers six key indicators: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education. Based on the 2025 assessment, the Faculty of Engineering achieved a total score of 5,515 points, representing a 91.9 percent achievement rate. This achievement solidifies the Faculty of Engineering’s position as the faculty with the best sustainability management at Unhas, while also maintaining the same level of achievement attained in 2024.
Second place was taken by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) with an achievement rate of 83.9 percent, and third place was held by the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries with an achievement rate of 80.9 percent. The Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., awarded development grants of Rp 25 million to the Faculty of Engineering, Rp 20 million to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Rp 15 million to the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., IPM., ASEAN Eng., expressed his gratitude and appreciation for this achievement. “Alhamdulillah, the Faculty of Engineering has once again succeeded in maintaining its top ranking in the Unhas Green Metric Award. This achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community—from faculty members, students, and support staff to our partners—who consistently support the realization of a green and sustainable campus. We remain committed to maintaining consistency and fostering innovation so that the Faculty of Engineering can serve as a model for other faculties in supporting Unhas’s vision of becoming a world-class, environmentally conscious university,” he said.
This success demonstrates the Faculty of Engineering’s dedication to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through environmentally friendly energy management, resource efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable transportation, and the integration of sustainability issues into the three pillars of higher education. With this achievement for two consecutive years, the Faculty of Engineering has further strengthened its reputation not only as a center of excellence in engineering but also as a pioneer in building a sustainable future for the campus.
