Over the next ten years, the Indonesian nation will be faced with increasingly severe development and spatial planning problems coupled with problems during the current pandemic. It is believed that the current pandemic will change the structure of people's lives, including in terms of urban spatial planning. Moreover, as soon as this pandemic ends, related parties need to prepare healthier urban planning in order to anticipate a repeat of a similar pandemic.
Hendricus Andy Simarmata, Chairman of the Association of Planning Experts (IAP) said there are a number of points that need to be improved in urban spatial planning. In planning a healthy city, it is not only a matter of designing a healthy city environment and making its citizens healthy, but also preparing the city to be strong to weather the pandemic storm with minimal impact. "With minimal impact and the city's recovery as quickly as possible,"
The current pandemic demonstrates two undeniable facts: we are connected to each other, and cities are at the forefront of dealing with this crisis and other global crises in the future. Not only being at the forefront of dealing with this pandemic, cities will also experience long-term changes, both physically and in terms of economic and community structures. For thousands of years, infectious diseases have influenced urban planning. Currently, the government, doctors and the public are working hard to contain the spread of this virus (flatten the curve). In the midst of these efforts, various policy and behavioral changes are likely to influence future urban ways of life.
Therefore, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University will carry out a Vitual National Seminar with the theme "Smart and Healthy City Resilient Pandemic" because it is an important part of the process of planning, utilizing and controlling spatial planning, so that cities are more anticipatory and adaptive in face future problems.
