Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Officially Awarded the Title of Professor in Coastal and Port Engineering

Hasanuddin University once again conferred the title of Full Professor during an Academic Senate Meeting, which took place in the Senate Room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. This time, the title of Full Professor was awarded to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Arsyad Thaha, MT.

The Senate meeting, with the sole agenda item being the acceptance speech for the professorship, was opened by the Chair of the Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Dadang A. Suriamihardja. Also in attendance were the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA, and the Chair of the Hasanuddin University Board of Professors, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mursalim.

Also present were members of the Academic Senate and the Board of Professors, the Vice Rectors, the Deans of Unhas, and hundreds of invited guests.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Arsyad Thaha, MT., delivered his inaugural lecture titled: “The Role of Coastal Engineering Research within the Framework of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) for the Development of Indonesia’s Maritime Continent.”

“One of the challenges faced by Indonesia as a maritime nation is the lack of unified regulations in the maritime sector,” said Prof. Arsyad.

Meanwhile, in his introductory remarks before the investiture ceremony, the Chair of the Unhas Professorial Council, Prof. Mursalim, congratulated him on his inaugural address.

“Today we are inaugurating our 395th full professor. Meanwhile, there are still 48 of our full professors who have not yet delivered their acceptance speeches. This means that Unhas currently has 443 full professors,” he explained. In 2019, it is estimated that there will be an increase of up to 21 full professors.
