Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Engineering Holds a Halal Bihalal Gathering and Launches the FTUH’s 2025 Activities
The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT Unhas) held a Halal Bihalal event on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Exhibition Hall of the CoT Building in Gowa. The event, attended by various members of the academic community—including the Dean, senior administrators, faculty members, staff, and students—was also attended by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., who was accompanied by the Vice Rector for Partnerships, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business, Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil., along with his team, to strengthen bonds following Eid al-Fitr 1446 H.
In an atmosphere of togetherness, this Halal Bihalal event served not only as a moment to exchange forgiveness but also as a platform to launch a number of key initiatives by the Unhas Faculty of Engineering for the year 2025. The launch of these initiatives aims to further strengthen the Unhas Faculty of Engineering’s position as a center for education and innovation in the fields of engineering and technology.
The activities launched included:
- The 65th Anniversary of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering in 2025
- As part of its 65th anniversary celebrations, the FT Unhas will hold a series of events to commemorate the faculty’s long journey and its contributions to the worlds of education and research.
- Kick-off for the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering Sports Hall in 2025
- The Unhas Faculty of Engineering will launch the construction of a new Sports Hall, which is expected to serve as a premier facility to support athletic activities and the development of students’ physical abilities.
- International Conference on Research in Engineering and Science Technology (IC-REST) 2025
- The Unhas Faculty of Engineering will host an international conference bringing together researchers and practitioners from various countries to share knowledge and the latest research findings in the fields of engineering and science technology.
- Program for the Improvement and Development of International Partnership Networks (P2MJKI) in 2025
- As part of efforts to improve the quality of education and research, the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University (FT Unhas) continues to strengthen its international partnership networks with universities, research institutions, and industries abroad.
- Unhas Maker Innovation Space (MIS) Handover in 2025
- The signing of the Maker Innovation Space Handover marks the handover of an innovation space funded by USAID, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support student creativity and innovation in developing various new products and technologies.
- Unhas Faculty of Engineering Innovations in 2025
- The year 2025 will be a year full of innovation for the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, with various research initiatives, projects, and innovative products to be produced by the faculty’s academic community to support the advancement of science and technology.
In his remarks, the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa, commended this event as a positive initiative that strengthens bonds among members of the broader Unhas community. “This Halal Bihalal is an important moment to strengthen our bonds, maintain good relations with one another, and extend mutual forgiveness. May the launch of the Faculty of Engineering’s major initiatives in 2025 yield tangible contributions—not merely as prototypes, but as innovations that enter the industrial sector and compete effectively in the advancement of science and technology,” said Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa.
The Dean of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Isran, also expressed his gratitude to the entire academic community for their participation in this event. He hopes this event can serve as a good first step in facing various challenges and achieving shared success in 2025. On this occasion, Prof. Isran also highlighted several ongoing innovations from the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, including a device for treating wastewater into clean water, ? a device for treating groundwater into drinking water; an IoT-based autonomous drone for transporting and sowing seeds; artificial intelligence and multimedia processing; a cleaning drone; the development of electric rickshaws; a membrane-based prototype system for converting seawater into freshwater (SWRO); smart lights; and a smart parking system.
In addition to the Halal Bihalal celebration and the launch of these initiatives, the event was enlivened by a communal meal and social gathering, which further strengthened the bonds among the academic community of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering.
With the success of this event, the Unhas Faculty of Engineering hopes to continue fostering a spirit of togetherness and collaboration within the academic community, as well as to achieve various ambitious goals in education and research in the future.
