Holding an International Symposium, the Unhas Faculty of Engineering Hosts a Disaster Management Professor from Japan

The symposium was organized through a collaboration among three departments at the Faculty of Engineering (FT) of the University of Hasanuddin (Unhas): Industrial Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, and Geology.

The event, titled “Disaster Risk Reduction and Regional Resilience,” was held in partnership with Ehime University in Japan.

Irwan Setiawan, Chair of the International Symposium Organizing Committee, stated that this international symposium served as a forum for exchanging ideas regarding disasters that have occurred in Japan and Indonesia.

Speakers discussed various research studies related to disasters.

Regarding disasters in Japan, speakers focused on the Shikoku Islands and Ehime Prefecture.

As for Indonesia, discussions primarily centered on disasters that occurred on the island of Sulawesi.

“This forum discusses research and studies on disasters in two countries: Indonesia and Japan.”
