Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Develops Microwave Transmission Technology; Unhas’s IATEL Facilitates Collaboration with Japanese Telecommunications Company NEC, Which Donates Equipment
As part of efforts to advance research on microwave transmission technology at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Hasanuddin (Unhas), the Head of the Telecommunications Laboratory, Dr. Elyas Panlentei, and the Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Unhas, Dr.Eng. Dewiani Djamaluddin, established a partnership with Nippon Electric Company (NEC), a multinational giant in the field of information technology and electronics headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. This partnership was facilitated by the Electrical Engineering Alumni Association (IATEL) of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering through IATEL’s Chairman, Ikhlas Bahar.
As part of this collaboration, NEC donated a microwave transmission system to the Telecommunications Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Unhas. The microwave-based telecommunications transmission system was handed over directly by NEC’s representative in Indonesia, Mr. Mulyono, to the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Unhas. The handover of this equipment took place on Friday, March 10, 2023, and was witnessed by the Dean of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, Prof. M. Isran Ramli; the Head of the Telecommunications Laboratory at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Unhas Faculty of Engineering; and the Chair of IATEL, Unhas Faculty of Engineering.
As part of the equipment handover, a three-day training session and workshop were conducted for faculty members and student researchers in the field of telecommunications transmission, held in the meeting/seminar room of the Department of Telecommunications Engineering (TE) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Hasanuddin (Unhas). In his remarks, the Head of the DTE Telecommunications Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, Unhas, Dr. Elyas Palentei, stated that with this equipment grant from NEC, the research capacity and capabilities of the Telecommunications Laboratory will increase, positioning it at the forefront of developing microwave-based telecommunications transmission research.
