Hosting the 2nd ICREST, the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University Welcomes Speakers from Indonesia and Abroad
The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University has once again demonstrated its capabilities on the international stage; this time, the Faculty of Engineering successfully hosted the second International Conference on Research in Engineering and Science Technology (ICREST). The conference was held on Wednesday, October 25, 2024, in Lecture Theater 1 of the CSA Building at the Faculty of Engineering in Gowa.
The event featured speakers from both Indonesia and abroad, including Dr. Muhammad Syafruddin from Sejong University in South Korea; Professor Hatori Tsuyoshi from Ehime University in Japan; Prof. Bachtiar Nappu, Ph.D., from Hasanuddin University; Dr. Peter Aning Anak Tedong from the University of Malaya in Malaysia; Professor Shun Chiyonobu from Akita University in Japan; and Dr. Mansur Maturidi Aries from Stanford University in the U.S.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K), and was attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, including Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER., the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Dr. Amil Ahmad Ilham, S.T., M.IT.; the Associate Dean for Planning, Resources, and Alumni, Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Rusman, M.T.; and the Associate Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN. Eng
ICREST is an annual international conference organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University as part of a series of events to commemorate the anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University. Chaired by Ir. Armin Darmawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM, this year’s ICREST carries the theme “Connecting Living Parameters with New Technologies for Reassuring and Enhancing Quality of Life in the Face of Climate Change,” which is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for speakers and researchers to present and publish their research findings; the conference also aims to offer solutions and innovative pathways toward a more sustainable and inclusive future. Furthermore, through this strong collaboration, it seeks to promote advanced technologies toward the Sustainable Development Goals from an engineering perspective. Specifically, the conference focuses on Technology Integration and Innovation; Sustainable Resource Management from Environmental, Geological, and Mining Perspectives; Architecture and Resilient Cities Technologies; Sustainable Maritime Technologies; the Sustainable Development Goals; and Sustainable Materials.
A total of 84 papers were submitted to this year’s conference. The authors hailed from five countries around the world: Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, and Indonesia. The papers were evaluated based on their significance, uniqueness, and technical quality. A total of 72 papers were selected for presentation at the conference, which will be divided into six parallel sessions and one virtual session.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Isran expressed his gratitude to all authors for their participation and contributions to the conference. Prof. Isran added that this conference also serves as an opportunity for experts, researchers, and practitioners from various fields to expand their networks and enhance their skills and knowledge.
