The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary.
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, held its 20th anniversary celebration. The series of anniversary events began with a public lecture held in a hybrid format on Tuesday, February 20, 2023, at the CSA Building, 1st Floor, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University.
The public lecture was delivered by Ryan Aji Wahyu Dyan Syafitri, S.PWK., M.Ars., a lecturer at the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, who presented on “The Application of Cellular Automata in Enhancing Resilient Cities.”
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER. The event was held online, and he was represented by the Associate Dean for Planning, Resources, and Alumni, Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Rusman, M.T., who attended in person to symbolically open the event by striking a gong.
In his remarks, Prof. Isran congratulated the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hasanuddin University on its 20th anniversary and expressed his highest appreciation to the entire Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, noting that over the past two decades, the department has achieved numerous accomplishments and earned many national and international accreditations. However, Prof. Isran also reminded the department that these achievements should not lead to complacency and that it must continue to improve its performance for even greater success.
The event was also attended by the Chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Dr. Eng. Abdul Rachman Rasyid, ST., M.Si, and Dr.-Ing. Venny Veronica Natalia, ST., MT, who served as Chair of the Organizing Committee for this year’s 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
In his report, the Executive Chair of the 2 Decades of PWK Celebration stated that for this year’s celebration, the Unhas Department of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK) partnered with the Indonesian Association of Planning Schools, the University of Malaya, and the University of Technology Malaysia, and expressed hope that other partners would join after this event. He noted that this represents an important milestone for PWK, serving as a springboard for the department to achieve even greater success. It is also hoped that this event will serve as a gathering for students, faculty, and alumni, as well as to foster connections among PWK departments at the national, international, and regional levels.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning remarked on this occasion that, as PWK marks its 20th anniversary, we are celebrating with academic activities as an expression of our gratitude for having been here for the past 20 years. This series of activities will continue through the end of the year and will include research, academic events, and community service.
PWK has achieved many accomplishments together—in collaboration with alumni, students, faculty, and the academic community—and on this occasion, Dr. Abdul Rachman Rasyid expressed his deep gratitude. Dr. Abdul Rachman Rasyid also called on all members of the Department of PWK to work together to make PWK more advanced, happier, and more prosperous.
