Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering and Poltekba Officially Establish a Partnership for an Electrical Engineering Doctoral Program
Gowa, Friday, April 10, 2026 — The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT Unhas) has officially established a strategic partnership with the Balikpapan State Polytechnic to offer a collaborative Doctoral (S3) program in Electrical Engineering. The signing of this partnership marks a concrete step toward strengthening collaboration among higher education institutions to improve the quality of human resources in the fields of engineering and technology.
The signing ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere filled with a spirit of collaboration. Representing Balikpapan State Polytechnic was Director Dr. Emil Azmanajaya, accompanied by Dr. Hadi Hermansyah, Deputy Director II, along with other members of the leadership team. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University was represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, Associate Dean III for Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Alumni.
This partnership focuses on the implementation of an affirmative action program for the Doctoral Program (S3) in Electrical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University. This program is designed to provide access to advanced education for faculty members and professionals from Balikpapan State Polytechnic who meet the academic requirements, while also supporting the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
In his remarks, the representative from the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University emphasized that this collaboration is part of the institution’s commitment to expanding its academic network and fostering research-based innovation. “This collaboration is not only focused on enhancing individual capacity but is also expected to make a tangible contribution to the advancement of science and technology,” he said.
Meanwhile, Balikpapan State Polytechnic welcomed this collaboration as a strategic opportunity to improve faculty qualifications through doctoral education. The program is expected to strengthen academic and research competencies, thereby contributing to the improvement of engineering education quality at the national level.
According to the agreement, this program will be attended by 10 selected prospective students with support in the form of academic and research facilities, as well as integrated dissertation supervision. Additionally, both parties are committed to conducting periodic evaluations to ensure the sustainability and quality of the collaboration program.
Through this signing, the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas and the Balikpapan State Polytechnic reaffirm their synergy in building a higher education ecosystem that is excellent, adaptive, and globally competitive.
