Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin Welcomes Inbound Students from Saga University, Japan

Gowa, 14 September 2025 — The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin  (FT Unhas), officially welcomed a delegation of inbound students from Saga University, Japan, as part of the Short-Term Internship and Summer Program running from 8 to 23 September 2025.

A total of eight students across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, representing various disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Informatics Engineering, are participating in the program. They were accompanied by two professors from Saga University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering: Prof. Oshikawa Hideo and Dr. Mishima Yuichiro.

The official reception was held at the Dean’s Office, Center of Technology (CoT) Building, Faculty of Engineering Unhas, Bontomarannu Campus, Gowa Regency, in a warm and collegial atmosphere. The presence of Saga University’s delegation marks another milestone in strengthening academic ties and research collaborations between the two institutions.

During their stay, the delegation will engage in a series of academic and cultural enrichment activities. The agenda includes guest lectures delivered by professors from both universities, joint workshops on engineering and cross-cultural topics, laboratory visits and research group discussions in Civil, Environmental, and Informatics Engineering departments, as well as field tours to infrastructure and development sites around Makassar. The program will conclude with student presentations highlighting their academic experiences and cultural exchanges.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Unhas, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., emphasized the importance of this program. “The presence of students and professors from Saga University represents a tangible commitment to internationalizing higher education at the Faculty of Engineering, Unhas. Through this program, we aim to provide cross-cultural academic experiences while strengthening joint research collaborations. This initiative also aligns with the spirit of Hasanuddin University’s Kampus Berdampak (Impactful Campus),” he stated.

As the person-in-charge of the FT Unhas–Saga University collaboration, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Tri Harianto, ST., MT., IPU, added: “This program is the result of long-standing cooperation between FT Unhas and Saga University. Through activities such as guest lectures, workshops, and joint research, students from both institutions can learn from one another, exchange experiences, and broaden their international academic networks. We hope this collaboration will further strengthen the global standing of FT Unhas.”

Also present during the reception were Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Jalaluddin Haddade, ST., MT., Professor of Mechanical Engineering at FT Unhas and alumnus of Saga University, and Dr. Eng. Ir. Bambang Bakri, ST., MT., Secretary of the Department of Civil Engineering, FT Unhas. Their participation highlighted the historical and academic ties between the two institutions.
