Expanding the Innovation Network: FT-Unhas Partners with PT BYD to Develop Electric Vehicles and Clean Energy

The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT-UH), through its Center of Technology (CoT FT-UH), hosted a delegation from PT BYD Motor Indonesia led by Adhitya Rasta Nugraha, Government Relations Supervisor at PT BYD Motor Indonesia. This meeting marked an important milestone in expanding Unhas’s collaborative network for the development of electric vehicles.

During the meeting, the Dean of FT-UH, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., emphasized that the technological transformation toward electric vehicles and clean energy is a strategic priority aligned with Unhas’s vision as an “Impactful Campus.” The discussion focused on plans for R&D collaboration between the CoT FT-UH and PT BYD Motor Indonesia, with an emphasis on the development of electric vehicle technology, battery innovation, and the utilization of various other BYD products. This collaboration is expected to accelerate efforts to reduce emissions from the transportation sector while fostering the development of a research and innovation ecosystem in the field of clean energy that is oriented toward sustainability.

As a follow-up to the meeting, it was agreed that the BYD team would visit the FT-UH campus to conduct a number of strategic activities. These include guest lectures to provide the latest insights on the development of electric vehicle technology, an exhibition showcasing a variety of BYD’s innovative products, and test drives of BYD electric vehicles by the FT-UH academic community. These activities are expected to provide hands-on experience while deepening students’ and faculty members’ understanding of global electric vehicle industry trends.

Also present to accompany the Dean of FT-UH at this meeting were Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Rusman, ST., MT., as Vice Dean for Planning, Resources, and Finance (WD II FT-UH); Abdul Haris Djalante, ST., MT., as Secretary of the Technology Center (Pustekno) CoT FT-UH; and Hamzah, ST., MT., as Student Affairs Manager at FT-UH. The presence of these faculty leaders demonstrates their full support for this strategic plan and reinforces FT-UH’s commitment to building a network of cooperation with international industry partners.
