PT Vale and Huayou Indonesia Visit the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Hasanuddin to Strengthen Collaboration Between Education and Industry

Gowa, May 9, 2025 — The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) hosted a delegation from PT Vale Indonesia Tbk and Huayou Indonesia to explore strategic cooperation in the fields of education, research, and human resource development. The meeting took place in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the CoT Building at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering.

The Huayou Indonesia delegation was led by Wei Linkui, General Manager of the Indonesia Regional Management Center, accompanied by Hu Zaiwei (Deputy General Manager), Stevanus (Director of Public Affairs), and Stefanny Lie (Supervisor of Enterprise–Academy Cooperation). Meanwhile, PT Vale Indonesia was represented by Muhammad Asril, Director of the CGPO Development Project, along with project managers and other communications staff.

The meeting also discussed concrete plans for cooperation, including the establishment of specialized vocational classes, the provision of merit-based scholarships, as well as research collaboration and the establishment of a research center to support the development of nickel downstream industries. Unhas, located in Sulawesi—the center of the nation’s nickel reserves—is expected to become a strategic partner in supporting these efforts.

In addition, there are currently 26 Unhas alumni working at Huayou Indonesia, with an average tenure of more than two years—a clear testament to Unhas’s contribution to supporting the industry.

This visit is expected to serve as a significant first step in strengthening the synergy between the academic and industrial sectors, with the goal of not only developing human resources but also promoting the advancement of a nationally oriented, environmentally conscious, and sustainable industry.
