The Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Welcomes the Faculty of Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia at the Opening Ceremony of the Makassar Engineering Odyssey
Gowa, May 5, 2025 — The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at the opening ceremony of the Makassar Engineering Odyssey, a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening academic and research cooperation between the two leading engineering institutions in Southeast Asia.
This event marks a strategic step in deepening the relationship between Unhas and UTM, which have previously collaborated in various fields, including research and academic exchanges. This collaboration includes activities such as international seminars, guest lectures, workshops, and discussion forums involving faculty members, researchers, and students from both universities.
The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Amil Ahmad Ilham, S.T., M.IT., extended a warm welcome to the Unhas Faculty of Engineering campus in Makassar: “We hope that through this event, our friends from UTM can enjoy and learn about the cuisine and culture of South Sulawesi, particularly in Makassar, and we hope this event will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Unhas Faculty of Engineering and the UTM Faculty of Civil Engineering,” he said.
Meanwhile, a representative from the UTM Faculty of Civil Engineering, Dr. Azmi, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome from the Unhas Faculty of Engineering. Dr. Azmi also extended an invitation to the Unhas Faculty of Engineering to visit Malaysia in order to expand the scope of cooperation between the two parties.
Following the opening ceremony held at the Faculty of Engineering campus, the event continued with a dinner aboard the Phinisi ship at Losari Beach in Makassar, aimed at introducing the culture of South Sulawesi to the participants.
