To Foster Student Creativity, the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Launches Pimtek 2020

The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held the launch of the 2020 Unhas Engineering Student Scientific Week (Pimtek) on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

The launch event was accompanied by a PKM outreach session titled “Strategies for Success in PIMNAS and PKM 2021,” presented by Dr. Eng. Purwanto, Head of the Department of Mining Engineering at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering and National Reviewer for the Student Creativity Program.

The Engineering Student Scientific Week is one of the Faculty of Engineering’s student activities that serves as a platform for students to channel their talents and interests in scientific writing.

Mukti Ali, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships at the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering, explained that the main objective of this Pimtek is to facilitate the early development of proposals for the Student Creativity Program (PKM).

This will prepare them to compete and, ideally, advance to the 2021 PIMNAS competition.

“Students participating in the 2020 Pimtek are expected to gain significant benefits in enhancing their creativity within their respective fields of study and to be better prepared for future PKM competitions,” he said.

Throughout the 2020 Pimtek, students were required to demonstrate their level of creativity and the practical value of their intellectual products.

“Thus, the criticism, suggestions, and praise they receive will serve as crucial components for students in their efforts to improve their academic performance in the future,” he said.

The last Pimtek was held in 2016 and was subsequently revived this year by Ir. Mukti Ali.

He hopes this Pimtek will produce a golden generation ready to excel, compete, and vie for success—all with high quality, armed with their knowledge and soft skills.

The Engineering Student Scientific Week will be held from November 7, 2020, to December 11, 2020.
