UNHAS INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS WON A SILVER MEDAL AT THE 31ST INTERNATIONAL INVENTION, INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY EXHIBITION IN MALAYSIA (ITEX’20)
The International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition, Malaysia (ITEX’20) is an international exhibition of technological inventions and innovations held in Malaysia from November 20, 2020, to November 21, 2020, live on the website (https://itex.com.my).
The ITEX’20 program consisted of an exhibition of inventions and technological innovations, webinars on entrepreneurship and technology, and exhibition presentations by inventors and technology innovators.
The Industrial Engineering students who participated included Evelyn Joanne Rerung as team leader, along with members Muhammad Fahryl and Josafat Arta Bryan—two electrical engineering students—and their faculty advisor, Dr. Eng. Ilham Bakri, S.T., M.Sc, IPM. The technological innovation entered in the ITEX’20 event was the Self-Powered Fingerprint Attendance (SPRITE) system. SPRITE is a device that uses the rotation of a DC motor to generate electrical energy, which serves as its primary power source. According to Evelyn, the team leader, the device is equipped with a supercapacitor to store energy.
