Comparative Study: The Unhas Faculty of Engineering Senate Conducts a Working Visit to the Faculty of Engineering Senate at the University of Indonesia.
The Senate of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT UNHAS) conducted a comparative study visit to the Senate of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia (FTUI) on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the FTUI campus in Depok.
This working visit by the FT UNHAS Senate was led directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Salama Manjang, MT., IPM. as Chair of the FT UNHAS Senate, accompanied by three members of the FT UNHAS Senate: Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Yamin Jinca, MS.Tr., Prof. Ir. Sakti Adji Adisasmita, M.Si., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., IPM, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Syafruddin Syarif, MT.
The working visit delegation was received directly by Prof. Dr. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc (Chair of the FTUI Senate) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc (First Associate Dean of the FTUI), as well as several members of the FTUI Senate, including: Prof. Dr. Ir. Yudan Whulanza, S.T., M.Sc., Dr. Deni Ferdian, S.T., M.Sc., Dr. Ir. Achmad Hery Fuad, M.Eng., Prof. Dr. Ir. Rini Riastuti, M.Sc., Dr. Ir. Yuliusman, M.Eng., and Prof. Ir. Widjojo Adi Prakoso, M.Sc., Ph.D.
In his warm remarks, the Chair of the FTUI Senate expressed his deep gratitude for the working visit by the FT Unhas Senate to FTUI, which was seen as an opportunity to strengthen ties while exchanging experiences, ideas, and concepts. The warm welcome extended by the leadership of the FTUI Senate was highly appreciated by the Chair of the FT Unhas Senate in his remarks. The Chair of the Unhas FT Senate expressed the hope that the discussion would provide a comprehensive overview of the Organization Structure and the funding of FTUI Academic Senate (SA) activities.
During the meeting, which took place at the FTUI Dean’s Office, the FT Unhas Senate delegation received an explanation and information from the Chair of the FTUI Senate regarding the structure of the FTUI Academic Senate, which consists of only two committees: Committee 1 (Academic Affairs & Student Affairs) and Committee 2 (Research, Community Engagement & Human Resources). The regulations governing the activities of the FTUI Academic Senate in accordance with the UI Statutes were also presented.
Equally important, the challenges facing engineering higher education were discussed, along with how to address increasingly complex societal challenges—which cannot be resolved through a monodisciplinary approach. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the foundational aspects of engineering education content, foster ecological thinking, humanize engineering education content, enhance intellectual development and foster engineering creativity, and develop professional skills and personal growth to cultivate resilient engineers with a global perspective. This is essential for UI as it moves toward becoming an Entrepreneurial University.
The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and plaques, as well as a group photo, all in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
