The Faculty of Engineering’s Student Affairs Office Holds a Mentoring Session for the PKM Team
The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving students’ academic quality and creativity through the Student Creativity Program (PKM) mentoring initiative. This activity is part of an effort to support students in developing innovative ideas and to enhance the quality and competitiveness of PKM proposals submitted by teams that will participate in the national PKM competition.
This mentoring program was attended by Unhas Faculty of Engineering students who are preparing PKM proposals in various fields, such as Research, Community Service, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, as well as a team of faculty mentors. The event featured Abdullah Sanusi, S.E., MBA., Ph.D., Director of Student Affairs and Career Preparation, and Dr. Suhasman, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the Sub-Directorate for Achievement Development, who provided various technical trainings—ranging from how to draft a good proposal to effective presentation strategies.
The event was officially opened by the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Amil Ahmad Ilham, S.T., M.IT. In his remarks, Prof. Amil noted that 44 proposals had already been received from the Faculty of Engineering; however, since these proposals were still far from perfect, guidance from the Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Preparation team was necessary. In addition, Prof. Amil also reminded the students that winning requires not only enthusiasm but also discipline—both in terms of time and effort.
Meanwhile, the Director of Student Affairs and Career Preparation, Abdullah Sanusi, S.E., MBA., Ph.D., stated in his remarks that this event is very important because it helps students develop their creative ideas into projects capable of competing at the national level. “First and foremost, we would like to thank the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs for his support in organizing this event. We are here today to provide guidance and direction to our students in the Faculty of Engineering. Given that the Faculty of Engineering is a large faculty in terms of both quantity and quality, we believe it is simply too big to fail. It would be a great pity if none of these 44 proposals were to qualify at all. That is why we came here in person to help our peers succeed—especially since we are confident that there is a great deal of potential within the Faculty of Engineering; it just needs a little polishing. Hopefully, through this initiative, the Faculty of Engineering can realize its full potential and produce champions at PIMNAS and other future competitions,” he said.
The Unhas Faculty of Engineering plans to continue this mentoring program on a regular basis until the students are ready to participate in the upcoming national-level PKM selection. It is hoped that this type of mentoring will result in more Unhas PKM teams achieving success at the national level.
This mentoring program is part of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering’s efforts to support the development of student innovation and creativity, while also encouraging them to contribute more in the fields of research and community service. The Unhas Faculty of Engineering hopes that students participating in this program will produce beneficial works and bring recognition to Unhas on the national stage.
