Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Explores Collaboration with the Faculty of Science at the University of Malaya
The program to develop an international partnership network at the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering—which was launched some time ago by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr-Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., IPM—is one of the efforts to strengthen cooperation with overseas partner universities. Prof. Isran encouraged all study programs within the Unhas Faculty of Engineering to explore opportunities for collaboration with overseas partner universities.
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, the Department of Geology in the Faculty of Engineering visited Malaysia to discuss a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on cooperation with the Department of Geology in the Faculty of Science at the University of Malaya. The delegation participating in the visit included Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakan, ST., MT, Associate Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation at the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Eng. Hendra Pachri, ST., M.Eng., Chair of the Department of Geological Engineering; Ilham Alimuddin, ST, M.GIS., PhD., Secretary of the Geocomputing and Remote Sensing Laboratory, Department of Geological Engineering; and Dr. Ulva Ria Irfan, ST., MT., Chair of the Doctoral Program in Earth Sciences / Secretary of the Petrography Laboratory, Department of Geological Engineering.
During the visit, we were received by the Associate Dean for Research at the Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Prof. Dr. Azhar Arifin, and the Head of the Department of Geology, Prof. Meor Hakif Amir Hassan, PhD.Dic.P.Geol, along with faculty members from the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science.
During the meeting, the leadership of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Geology expressed their appreciation for the International Partnership Network program of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering and expressed their willingness to collaborate on student exchanges, the possibility of implementing a double-degree Master’s program in Geology, research collaboration, and joint international conferences. In addition to the discussions, we were also given the opportunity to visit the laboratories to see firsthand the laboratory facilities at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya.
